Biography

Dahiana Candelo was admitted to the acting training at the Maastricht Theater Academy in 2016. While pursuing her studies, she also ventured into professional acting, taking on supporting roles in various (web) series and films, including Baas Boven Baas (2017), De Druk (2018), Single 39 (2019) and Loveboy (2020). Alongside her acting endeavors, she gained valuable experience through internships with renowned theater companies NTjong (in collaboration with Dox) and De Toneelmakerij.

Dahiana graduated in 2020, the first year of the coronavirus pandemic. Instead of allowing the circumstances to hinder her trajectory, she worked to train herself as a creator during the long lockdowns. She received a grant through the authors’ association to create a plan for a series under the guidance of screenwriter Chris Westendorp, an invaluable learning experience for her. Additionally, she wrote and put on a full-length stage performance called Reflejo. A one-woman show that has been performed at esteemed venues such as Bijlmer Parktheater, Meervaart Theater, DeLaMar West, Frascati, and Podium Mozaik.

Expanding on her acting repertoire, Dahiana played one of the protagonist in the film Gewoon Mens (2022). She also appeared in Ach Mijn Wederhelft (2021) and Mag ik je kussen? (2023). In addition to these productions, she has also acted in series such as Flikken Maastricht (2021), Bonnie & Clyde (2022), Black Lotus (2023), the Polish production Planeta Singli (2022), and the Spanish production Para abajo (2023).

Since completing her acting education, Dahiana has wholeheartedly devoted herself to her craft Not only does she work as an actress and creator, but she also shares her knowledge with aspiring actors as a teacher. Between 2020 and 2023, she has taught acting classes at distinguished institutions such as Top Vakantie (Belgium), Stichting READY, the Municipality of Rotterdam, Segbroek College, and SWT Zaandam.

Currently, Dahiana is playing a significant role as an actress in the upcoming feature film De Donkere Bril, scheduled to premiere in 2024. As a filmmaker, she is collaborating with DEAR PEOPLE on her short film TIO, and she has recently completed a development program at ROSE STORIES, where she received coaching and mentorship from actress and filmmaker Halina Heijn.
